(Sonea)
People’s lack of awareness of wearing masks and applying health protocol in Probolinggo city is one that needs to be optimally increased amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Dozens of people were caught in an operation called Operasi Yustisi, carried out on Monday (14/9) in Jl Dr. Soetomo by a joint team involving the city administration, Indonesian Military TNI, and Police unit Polri.
The operation, led by Deputy Chief of Probolinggo city Police Unit, Commissioner Teguh Santoso, is a follow-up to Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 6 of 2020 and Regional Regulation (Perda) of East Java Province Number 2 of 2020.
As many as 34 people consisting of men and women, road users, and pedestrians were caught without wearing masks while having an outdoor activity. The officer then gave directions, collected the data, and at the same time gave sanctions to the violators in the form of sweeping the area of Ahmad Yani Sports Center, wearing an orange vest.
Deputy Chief of Probolinggo Police, Commissioner Teguh Santoso, told the media that many are not aware of wearing masks. Lenient sanctions against the violators will be increased as they are now only punished by cleaning the sports center area.
"On average (violations committed), they are caught without wearing masks. Many admitted to having no information about the obligation of wearing masks. It’s now still tolerable, but (in the future) fines will be imposed on the violators. (alfien_tr) (alfien_tr)
