(famydecta)
It is normal for a resident to ask something to the mayor. But, what happened on Saturday (29/8), when Probolinggo Mayor Hadi Zainal Abidin had a dialogue with the residents at small mosque Mushola Darul Kharomah, Jrebeng Wetan urban village, was quite unique or fairly says, funny.
Normally, residents are asking for funds (for business purposes); some are asking for a downgrade of their homes' electrical power from 1300 VA to 900 VA, and others ask for staple-food assistance. However, a difficult request was made when an elderly woman asked the mayor to find her a husband.
“Regarding the assistance or funds, we will try to comply with the request. But, what the granny has requested for (finding her a husband) is extremely difficult. It’s difficult, I cannot help her,” the mayor said in a joking tone, with most people attending the dialogue laughing.
The meeting between the mayor and the residents was held in harmony. By continuing to apply health protocols, the mayor can find out what and how the community's expectations are. Not only having dialogues, as many as 37 elderly people from five sub-districts received staple-food assistance consisting of rice, flour, sugar, oil, soy sauce, and noodles. This assistance is expected to ease the burden on the elderly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Habib Hadi, the government must be aware of the residents’ condition, especially the elderly, who are unable to work and lonely. "Alhamdulillah, on this occasion I can stay in touch as the regional head to meet the residents," said the mayor who was riding a bike to get to the location.
Several messages were delivered by the mayor, including the plan to improve the need for ambulances in each urban village during the 2020 APBD Amendment. Currently, there are only 18 ambulances available, with 11 more are waiting for realization. If an emergency requires an ambulance, people can contact the emergency center 112.
Mayor Habib Hadi also asked people not to be afraid to go to a doctor, health center, or hospital. "Don't be afraid of being diagnosed with COVID-19. No. The screening results are all based on proper SOP. If the result says positive, we will say it so,” he said.
He deliberately expressed this matter because there was a lot of fake information saying that people going to check their health at the hospital will be falsely diagnosed with COVID-19. "You all understand? I hope people don't hesitate to have themselves checked, especially if the government has provided health insurance BPJS facilities for the people. Use the facilities provided according to the needs of the people," explained the former member of the East Java DPRD and DPR RI.
Closing the dialogue, Habib Hadi emphasized that with the aspirations conveyed by the public to him, it could be a provision for completing policies that would be beneficial to the community according to the facts on the field.
"Thank you for the input given. What we are doing is solely to serve the people of Probolinggo City," said Habib Hadi, who is committed to continuing to do the same thing, namely traveling around collecting the aspirations of the community.
Besides receiving staple-food assistance from BKPSDM and the Social Affairs Agency, the latter has a program called ‘Rantang Sehat’ (Healthy Basket). The agency provides the basket with healthy food every day which is distributed to the elderly. Rantang Sehat was started in 2020. "We are now providing Rantang Sehat for 12 people, and this number will increase to 50 in 2021," said the Head of Social Affairs Agency, Zainullah. (alfien_tr)
