(famydecta)
Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Probolinggo city sprayed disinfectant on public facilities, including 27 bus stops and mosques. This was conducted to ensure safety amid the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.
Three joint teams involving BPBD and Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), along with the Agency of Transportation did the spray to the locations starting at 7 am. As was seen at one of the city icons Gladak Serang traffic circle, the iron chairs and the pool restrictive have been all sprayed. Then the team moved to the bus stop at the high school SMAN 4 and junior high school SMPK Mater Dei.
The acting head of BPBD, Sugito Prasetyo explained, based on mayoral regulation and a decree being issued, Probolinggo municipal administration has determined the situation a non-natural disaster. Therefore, BPBD and related working units made a move to certain public facilities including the bus stop, and other public transportations.
“We went along the public facilities, spraying disinfectant to the mosques especially those at the main roads. This is necessary since there are a lot of people coming from out of town having a prayer at the mosque, and certainly the mosques need to be sterilized,” Sugito said.
The disinfectant spraying is an effort to minimize the spread of the virus, and BPBD is sure that the effort can break the spread of the virus. While waiting for the equipment from the Health Agency, BPBD has decided to do the spray using simple tools and equipment.
“God willing, on Monday or Tuesday (next week), we will have the equipment ready. And, while waiting for the equipment, we made a move and use a homemade disinfectant based on the standard of the Health Ministry,” Sugito said.
The spraying will not only last in one day, but in the next few days, BPBD will have another one to churches in Probolinggo city. “It’s not a one day job, but we will move to other public facilities,” the former head of the General Affairs Department said.
He also urges people to adopt Clean and Healthy Lifestyle Behavior and to restrict outdoor activities to avoid any events or meetings involving many people.
“Don’t panic, Let us together working together with all social elements to prevent the spread of coronavirus COVID-19,” Sugito said. Apart from bus stops, mosques, and churches, the disinfectant spraying will be conducted in Islamic boarding schools and traditional markets.
The stakeholders in Mayangan Sub-district have also carried out similar actions, by spraying disinfectant in the Wiroborang mosque and distributing hand sanitizers at the shopping center in the city. (alfien_tr)
