This was stated in her visit to the city on Wednesday (17/6) to launch and monitor the implementation of Kampung Tangguh Semeru.

The program initiated by East Java Regional Police Chief is fully supported by the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the government. In Probolinggo city, all resilient villages have economic activities including cheap market and food barn. They also have high-quality products to sell.

“This was carried out in an expectation that people can fulfill their food needs and encourage economic activities. Besides, we also have an initiation to make the program of the working units in collaboration with Kampung Tangguh Semeru,” Mayor Hadi Zainal Abidin said.

Probolinggo city has 30 resilient villages spread out in 29 urban villages. It also has 2 resilient boarding houses, 6 resilient industries, 2 resilient markets, 2 resilient Islamic boarding houses, 2 resilient ports, resilient worship places, and 5 posts ahead of the resilient region.

The launching event was carried out at the Command Center, city hall, via a video conference involving all resilient villages. It was attended by Irdam V Brawijaya Brigjen TNI Arie Subekti, head of East Java’s working units, Probolinggo Vice Mayor Mochammad Soufis Subri, Probolinggo city Police Chief AKBP Ambariyadi Wijaya, District Military Commander 0820 Lieutenant Colonel Imam Wibowo, Regional Secretary drg Ninik Ira Wibawati, and other related working unit heads.

It must have social, economic, food-security resilience starting from the bottom line. Probolinggo city is magnificent to have resilient Islamic boarding school, resilient traditional market, and others,” said the governor in her speech.

Governor Visits Two Resilient Villages

A special welcome awaited the entourage, with health protocols including physical distancing, washing hands, and checking body temperature using thermo gun, were strictly applied. They also reviewed the SME booths, health post, the production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and cheap market. A unique moment happened when the entourage walks through an arch of swords, yet to form the arch, the disinfectant hose was used instead.

“Such an innovative village. Besides preparing the people to face COVID-19 pandemic, the village also stimulates Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) to develop, resulting in the increasing economy and the creation of other innovations,” Khofifah said after reviewing the activity at KTS Benteng.

The governor also appreciated the public kitchen providing smoked fish meals, cheap staple-food packages, masks, and face shield production. “It’s so comprehensive. The initiation of Kampung Tangguh Semeru is not only for the pandemic but also to prepare the people ahead of the new normal era, encouraging the solidarity to have resilience from the bottom line,” she said.

She admitted to being interested in the swords arch the village has performed. “This is the best village I have ever visited. It was great innovations, and hopefully, it will make the village stronger,” she said cheerfully. She also spontaneously handed out IDR 10 million for the operating costs to the coordinator of KTS Benteng.

After visiting KTS Benteng, the entourage went to KTS Kanigaran, located in Asabri settlement. In the location, she also handed out cash assistance with the same amount. The village has plant cultivation, catfish farming, and an exhibition of SME. (alfien_tr)
