PEMKOT PROBOLINGGO PASANG 25 WASTAFEL PORTABEL

2019-2020

IMG 20200405 WA0098Teknis pengisian air tandon wastafel dilakukan dua sampai tiga hari sekali.

(famydecta)

Probolinggo municipal administration has installed 25 portable washstands in certain spots as a preventive measure conducted based on one of the health protocols against coronavirus. This measure will be carried out gradually as the first wave of the installment was conducted on Sunday (5/4) with 3 washstands are ready to use at traditional markets and public spaces.

Mayor Hadi Zainal Abidin along with the head of Public Works Agency Agus Hartadi led the washstands distribution as the facility is now being most needed by the people amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The portable washstands are completed with a 550-liters water tank, aluminum frame, liquid soap, tissues, and water absorption. The first two locations being installed with the washstand included Fish Market Mayangan and the city square, at the southern side.

“We have prepared 24 units of washstand to be installed at public spaces including at the city square since the location has been the site of people trading and many people visiting the site. Then, the fish market is another location of cash transaction deal, and we know that money can be a transmitter of virus or bacteria to spread,” Mayor Habib Hadi said.

According to the mayor, the condition of the market especially in the rural area has minimum facility especially washstand. Therefore, installing a portable washstand would be a perfect move made by the local government. Otherwise, Habib Hadi continued, there would be more cases of coronavirus if the people coming to the market have no access and facility to wash their hands.

“I hope people can take care of the facility. This is the effort of the government to fulfill the people’s need to maintain cleanliness,” he added.

The tank water would be refilled once in two or three days. There would also be officers checking the tank in the morning before the market opens. The market security is also urged to help the government to refill the water or replacing the soap when it runs out.

“Is this enough? Definitely not. But, our target is the traditional markets. I went around and have seen myself that people have made a move to provide a simple washstand, and we are grateful that they concern about this situation. It was made of galloon or bucket simply modified into a washstand,” the mayor said. The installment will be gradually carried out and continued on Monday (6/4) at other traditional markets. (alfien_tr)
