Probolinggo Mayor Hadi Zainal Abidin called for the importance of promoting resilient families in Probolinggo city. He said the family is the smallest environment that is very effective in preventing the spread of COVID 19.
"I want to ask all social elements to be a pioneer in their family. Have concern for their family to create a tough and disciplined family. When COVID 19 is decreasing, everyone can do their activities as before with strict health protocols, ”said Mayor Habib Hadi.
In a live streaming release on Saturday (19/12) from the Command Center, city hall, the mayor revealed the rapid increase in the number of patients confirmed positive for COVID 19. In early November, only 14 were being treated, while as of December 19th, the number has reached 262 patients. The death rate also increased from 44 (November 1) to 85.
The number has made the government and stakeholders have more commitment to making policies to reduce the spread of COVID 19. Besides issuing a circular letter (SE) number 066/5647 / 425.106 / 2020 which took effect today (19/12), community participation is highly expected.
Being a resilient family, continued the mayor, by setting up a handwashing area in front of the house, and receiving guests wearing masks. Not to accept any guests without wearing a mask because the host has an obligation to look after the family.
"God willing, people will understand. You have to be introspective, care for your beloved family so that everyone can be awake, and avoid exposure to COVID 19. If all discipline to health protocols, COVID 19 cases would be under control. That is the hope of the government," he said.
"Come on, from now on we suppress (the spread of COVID 19) with a strong family. Crowds are prohibited, follow government recommendations, wear masks, wash hands frequently with soap, God willing, the number of COVID-19 will decrease. I ask the citizens to unite, together be disciplined and become a resilient family," added Habib Hadi, who asked people to get used to reminding someone who does not wear a mask.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Probolinggo City BPBD, Sugito Prasetyo, added that disaster resilient families are families who are willing and able to prepare themselves and their families in the face of any disaster, as well as having the resources to mitigate and perform first aid to families.
"What is meant by a disaster in resilient families is in the form of natural and non-natural disasters. This pandemic has been designated as a non-natural disaster. Technically, disaster-resilient families must implement 3M in their family environment," added Sugito.
On that occasion, Deputy Chief of Probolinggo City Police, Kompol Teguh also conveyed that they both control our passions. That is, lust travels and gathers. “Wash your hands already, you have masks, but your lust is not controlled and it will definitely increase again. I agree with resilient families plan, take care of yourself and your family by not traveling or hanging out," he said.
"What the Mayor said was clear. We urge the people of Probolinggo City to unite their determination, to care that Probolinggo belongs to us together. Avoid the potential to meet people, always pray that the city will be protected from COVID 19,” said Kasdim 0820 Major Inf Meeftah Puadi who was also present at the release.
Acting Director of RSUD Dr. Mohamad Saleh, dr Abraar HS Kuddah revealed, if people experience symptoms similar to COVID patients, don't be reluctant to go to health community center puskesmas or hospital. This is because 80 percent of those who come to the hospital are in a bad condition so that the death rate is quite high.
"We have never on purpose infected patients with the virus. Our decision is based on screening through a PCR swab. If you don't show symptoms of COVID, it would be definitely (showing) negative,” said dr. Abraar, who said that most of the new patients came to the hospital after experiencing shortness of breath.
