RSUD dr Mohamad Saleh Kota Probolinggo Sediakan Layanan Donor Plasma Konvalesen

2021

(famydecta)

Regional Hospital RSUD dr Mohammad Saleh has now provided a machine to separate blood to collect convalescent plasma for COVID-19 patient therapy. This machine allows the hospital to collect the plasma without having to go to other cities.

Probolinggo Mayor Habib Hadi Zainal Abidin visited the hospital on Monday (25/1) to monitor the process of blood donor, accompanied by Regional Secretary drg Ninik Ira Wibawati, Assistant for Government Affairs Setiorini Sayekti, Acting Director of the regional hospital dr Abraar HS Kuddah, clinical pathologists dr Rosyid and dr Bobby Mulyadi.

The first donor was once confirmed positive for COVID-19. The process took an hour and the transfusion was carried out in the isolation room. dr Bobby Mulyadi explained the machine will be ready to use for all COVID-19 patients who need the therapy as the hospital collaborates with the local Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

The procedure of the blood plasma donation is the COVID-19 survivors come to the hospital to undergo screening to find out whether or not they have communicable diseases and to check the antibody. A good result of the screening will allow the donor process to be carried out the next day.

“If the would-be donor had once received the convalescent plasma, the donation should be carried out in the next three months. One donor can do the transfusion 20 times a year. The donation process can be done once in two weeks,” dr Bobby explained.

The donated blood plasma will be kept at a temperature of -20? and it can last for 3-6 months. With a temperature of -40?, the plasma will last for a year.

dr Bobby revealed many types of research have been carried out with various results. Donating blood plasma depends on the condition of the patient and when the transfusion is carried out. On certain conditions, the plasma transfusion will give no effect.

Mayor Habib Hadi Zainal Abidin hopes that COVID-19 survivors can donate their plasma because many patients need the plasma as it helps to speed up the recovery process.

“Hopefully, the machine can be useful. I hope the COVID-19 survivors come to the hospital to donate their plasma. Let us help each other, and together we can fight the COVID-19,” he hopes. (alfien_tr)
