Probolinggo city administration has established a policy that is expected to be the best solution for the people amid the rise in COVID-19. As it has been implemented by the end of 2020, the policy has caused some responses to emerging as it gives impact to certain sides.

Many have posted complaints about the curfew on the city administration’s social media official account. “I can tell you, coronavirus is there at all hours, day and night. But, crowds occurred at night. Therefore, the city administration establishes the policy to prevent crowds. Don’t be selfish. This is for the sake of all people,” said Probolinggo Mayor Habib Hadi Zainal Abidin, in his speech at a virtual istighosah event on Sunday (17/1).

As of today (17/1), the city has announced 24 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with the data shows 223 patients are being treated. Totally, the city has recorded 1,801 people have been confirmed positive for coronavirus.

Therefore, Mayor Habib Hadi always urges the people to maintain discipline in following health protocols. To him, maintaining the discipline of 4M (wearing masks, washing hands with flowing water, maintaining distance to each other, and avoid the crowds) is the best way to stop the COVID-19 transmission.

“We, along with the TNI-Polri, are relentlessly carrying out Operation Yustisi and this must be supported by all people. Otherwise, this will go for nothing. We all want the city to turn green (zone). With good discipline, there will be no restriction on economic activity,” he said.

He also said the COVID-19 vaccine will be the best solution to get the situation back to normal by following health protocols.

The mayor is grateful that Indonesia has started the vaccination process, with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo was the first one in the country injected by the COVID-19 vaccine.

“This is proof that the vaccine is undoubtedly safe. It has been declared halal and safe by MUI, BPOM, and other research. Don’t get easily provoked by a claim telling that the vaccine has bad effects,” said the former member of DPR RI.

The vaccination process will be first provided for 2,233 healthcare workers, with a total target of 144,967 vaccine recipients. There will be 28 sessions of the vaccination process in a day, with 15 people per session, and a total of 420 people will be injected. The process is supported by 80 vaccinators. (alfien_tr)
