Arriving at the school, the governor checked the standby point of COVID-19 in the main yard of SMKN 2, including the implementation body temperature measurement using a Thermo gun, the provision of hand sanitizer and face shield by the students of SMKN 2. “Thank you, maintain your health,” she said friendly.
Khofifah then headed to the classrooms on the south side of the school, starting from the class for electrical installation practice, the class for design modeling, and the class on the north side, which is the class for electrical installation and lighting. There are six majors available at the schools including engineering design, modeling, electronics engineering industrial, engineering electrical installation, mechanical engineering, engineering light vehicle automotive as well as computer and network engineering.

At the school, Khofifah was accompanied by the Principal of SMAN 2 Erni Prasetyawati to review each class. A funny moment captured when Khofifah reviewed one of the classes; she advised the students named Anggoro. “You have to study hard! No dating,” she said, with other students laughing.
Meanwhile, Probolinggo Mayor Habib Hadi Zainal Abidin gave his statement related to the working visit of the governor. The city has recently carried out a poll of parents on their willingness to put their children on an online or offline learning method. “In the trial period, we will, of course, prioritize health protocols for the sake of everyone. We want to have the class in a normal method, but that we should do it gradually,” said Habib Hadi accompanied by Vice Mayor Subri.
According to Habib Hadi, he prefers the online method to offline considering the COVID-19 pandemic is still accelerating, but a face-to-face learning method may still be an option with health protocols applied. “The target (polling of parents) will be released as soon as possible, hopefully, results come out soon. The most important is that people remain discipline to wear a mask, if we are classified as a green zone, we can immediately open the classroom to have face-to-face learning methods,” he said.
The same thing was also expressed by Khofifah Indar Parawansa as she said that the trial learning face-to-face limited to 9 students, checkpoint examination must be carried out at the time the student arrives at the school. Students showing 37,3 of the body temperature are allowed to go home, and their arrival can be divided into shifts and the learning hours must be ended in four hours.
“This is what we call a trial on face-to-face learning method carried out gradually. The trial can be conducted with the approval of the regent and mayor. So here is the mayor with us to make sure this area carried out a face-to-face learning method gradually,” said Khofifah who wears a white shirt.
Khofifah added, SMKN is a school applying theory and practice, and therefore, the school cannot perform online learning methods. A face-to-face learning method must be an option with a gradual system applied in the school.
In addition to the working visit, Khofifah handed over as many as 2,000 pieces of cloth mask and 500 face shield to SMKN 2 and SMAN 2. (alfien_tr)
